LIFE-Nature is a programme of work funded by the Environment directorate of the European Commission. Its specific objective is to contribute to the implementation of European Community nature protection legislation, including the Habitats Directive (92/43/EEC), and in particular the establishment of the "Natura 2000" network for the in situ management and conservation of Europe's most remarkable fauna and flora species and habitats. The Mid Cornwall Moors are eligible for this funding because Goss Moor and Breney Common together form a candidate Special Area of Conservation under the Habitats Directive.
